The Bear is a very controllable fairway driver with a straight to slightly understable flight. Stronger arms can get a bit more turn out of it, but beginners will also find a great flight. Westside Discs compares it as slightly more overstable than the Stag with a predictable fade at the end of the flight.

VIP Air from Westside Discs

VIP Air uses the same material as our durable VIP plastic. It has solid plastic at the top and bottom of the rim to protect the microbubbles in the plastic on impact. These microbubbles actually make the disc lighter. They are spread out through the top of the disc and middle of the rim to keep the weight distribution nearly identical to VIP and Tournament discs.

The Finland originated Westside Discs is a sister company to Latitude 64 and Dynamic Discs. Their line of discs follows elements of the Finnish epic Kalevala. With reliable flight paths and great plastic, Westside may not have the largest selection of discs, but many options for all skill levels.

The four numbers on a disc tell you the discs’s flight characteristics: speed, glide, turn, and fade.

Lower speed ratings typically translate to a disc being easier to throw, but may not go as far. Higher the speed, further they’ll fly, but they are more difficult to throw.

Glide tells you how much it wants to stay in the air.

Turn indicates how much it wants to turn to the right at high speeds. -4 will turn more than -1.

Fade tells you about the end of the flight. The higher the number, the stronger it will finish to the left.
