The Discmania MD5 was the first truly overstable midrange designed by the company. It has now been reinvented and is initially released as a fundraiser for the 2023 European Open.

The MD5 has a very low profile with a flat top and beadless rim. It is very easy to hold and feels great. The smooth releases leads to a very overstable flight where it will fight any turn and certainly fade hard.

These do not have any tooling on the bottom and are considered a prototype.

Metal Flake C-line from Discmania

Metal Flake C-line plastic is regular C-line plastic with a twist. Tiny metal particles have been added to the extra durable C-line plastic to give the disc an extraordinary shine.

The Finnish based company also has a home in Colorado. With three lines of discs, Originals, Evolution, and Active, Discmania aims to be at the forefront of the sport’s growth with unique discs, course design, and marketing. Founder and CEO Jussi Meresmaa was named Finland’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2021.

The four numbers on a disc tell you the discs’s flight characteristics: speed, glide, turn, and fade.

Lower speed ratings typically translate to a disc being easier to throw, but may not go as far. Higher the speed, further they’ll fly, but they are more difficult to throw.

Glide tells you how much it wants to stay in the air.

Turn indicates how much it wants to turn to the right at high speeds. -4 will turn more than -1.

Fade tells you about the end of the flight. The higher the number, the stronger it will finish to the left.
